| Area of Expertise | All areas of family law, but with an emphasis on property settlement. |
Carol has considerable experience and expertise in financial and property matters, frequently dealing with complex financial issues and structures such as partnerships, family trusts, unit trusts, trading companies, self-managed superannuation funds and businesses. Her role involves locating the assets and establishing their value and ascertaining the liabilities of the relationship in order to reach settlement. Carol's extensive court experience enables her to offer a very effective and efficient service.
Carol is a qualified arbitrator and has a wealth of experience in negotiating a settlement. She can assist clients to reach agreements in what are often challenging and emotionally fraught situations. If clients wish to enter into mediation directly with a former partner, Carol will be able to identify key issues and provide clients with the necessary information to make an informed decision about legal entitlements and to suggest tactics for reaching agreement. If the parties agree on terms, Carol can draft consent orders and ensure that all the necessary court formalities are met so that the orders take effect.
Carol's experience enables her to provide clear advice to clients at what is often a very difficult time in their lives. Carol appreciates the need to consider fully and at an early stage issues such as child support and spousal maintenance and will consider whether there is a need to apply for any interim orders while a final property settlement is being negotiated.
The focus of Carol's practice is upon financial and property issues but she also has experience in difficult and sensitive issues concerning children's welfare. She has acted as counsel in many Family Court trials over property and disputes concerning children.
