Debbie has commenced leave and anticipates returning to Paterson and Dowding in late 2010
Debbie has considerable experience as a litigator and advocate, drawing on her previous experience as a criminal lawyer. Her career started at Legal Aid where she represented clients dealing with domestic violence. She has prosecuted cases on behalf of the Department for Child Protection when it has sought to remove children from their parent's care.
Debbie is a qualified independent children's lawyer and has been appointed to represent children in Court where allegations have been raised regarding physical, sexual and psychological abuse. She has been involved in cases involving abduction and recovery orders and where time spent with a child has been adversely affected because one parent has relocated elsewhere.
Debbie's practice now focuses on financial matters including property settlement, binding financial agreements and spousal maintenance. Her expertise enables clients to identify the nature and extent of the relevant assets and liabilities so that she can advise fully upon the likely outcomes should the matter proceed to a court hearing. Debbie will also deal with third parties who are affected by the division of assets.
Debbie is an experienced negotiator and adopts a holistic and practical approach to dispute resolution. She attempts to resolve matters efficiently and economically in order to avoid unnecessary financial and emotional strain for her clients. Debbie works in a conjunction with a network of financial advisors and accountants to help clients re-establish themselves after what can often be very difficult proceedings.
