Prior to joining private practice, Sharni gained invaluable experience in family law working as a para-legal at the Legal Aid Commission of Western Australia while undertaking her studies in law at Murdoch University. She then undertook her Articles of Clerkship in a medium-sized law firm and practised exclusively in family law.
Sharni's experience in financial matters ranges from the relatively straight forward property matters to assisting senior members of the firm and barristers with disputes involving considerable assets. She is available to prepare clients' divorce applications and appear in Court on their behalf.
Sharni acts in resolving the often difficult and sensitive issues that can arise between parents who do not live together, such as where their children should live, how much time should be spent with the other parent and how the children can move easily from one household to another.
She has also acted on behalf of extended family members, such as grandparents who seek to maintain contact with the children. Sharni's experience extends to representing clients in recovery and relocation applications when children have been taken interstate, overseas or moved elsewhere in the State. She has also dealt with allegations of child abuse.
