Shyam operated her own successful legal practice from 1993 until 2004, practicing in areas ranging from criminal matters, commercial litigation, conveyancing, and debt recovery. She has represented clients in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts, State Administrative Tribunal, and Federal Magistrates Court on a wide range of matters. Since 2004 Shyam has concentrated her practice solely on family law matters.
Shyam currently practices in all aspects of family law, including
- Property disputes including small asset pools, family businesses, partnerships and superannuation;
- Exclusive possession and spousal maintenance
- Child related matters; and
- Child support issues including negotiations with the Child Support Agency.
Her broad and varied experience in general practice has given her the skills to better understand and identify issues and find effective solutions in each particular matter. Shyam negotiates settlements which are practical and cost effective with an emphasis on minimising emotional and financial strain in both child related matters and property disputes.
