Mediation is a relatively informal process by which parties with the guidance of an independent mediator, try to settle their dispute without the need for litigation.
The mediator will help you identify the relevant issues, obstacles to settlement and develop options for resolution.
Mediation allows you to focus on outcomes based upon what is important to you (but still within legal guidelines which tell what your settlement position might be if it was to be heard in the Family Court). This shift of focus away from legal positions to interests, can often help parties work together to find a solution.
Our family lawyers are there to give you legal advice during the mediation to ensure that you enter into a settlement that will be approved by the Family Court.
Our Lucy Thomas can also chair your mediation. She is a Nationally Accredited Mediator and a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
